As energy bills continue to rise across the UK, CarComm Coachworks Ltd review the impact of their recent investment project to upgrade all of their spray booths to new energy – saving technology.
This environmentally conscious commercial vehicle repair centre invested in not only retrofitting all of their existing 5 spray booths with energy saving upgrades, but had also installed a brand new Junair Commercial Spray Booth.
The latest addition to the fleet of spray booths now onsite is 17000mm long x 5500mm wide x 5500mm high with LED lighting at high and low level, and entry via a large 4-leaf door set. In addition, the Junair Spray Booth has also been installed with QADS (16x towers) at high and low level and a heat recovery system to reclaim 50% of the heat that would normally be thrown away.
This makes the commercial oven as efficient as it is possible to be, whilst performing as required, and keeping all personnel safe from the harmful substances in paint. And the sheer size of it enables CarComm to increase project throughput as not only the largest of the vehicles can fit with ease, but all the associated parts can be done in one go.
The original spray booths were upgraded by the team from AGM Services Ltd, who were professional and a joy to deal with throughout the process. Fitting 4 of the original ovens with high-efficiency technology including variable speed fans for improved circulation, and improved control system for faster baking times and the QADS.
Junair also refurbished the original Junair oven by replacing all the plant, fans, duct work and chimneys for improved circulation, upgraded the control systems and installed QADS to help airflow and drying times.
Over the three month period both companies worked with CarComm around their workload demands for as little disruption as possible.
However, just a few months in and the benefits of this major investment are already being felt across the business. It allowed CacComm to be more efficient and to take on bigger projects more frequently.
Managing Director Jason Mole says “We are very pleased with the results of the oven and spray booth upgrade. These new ovens and spray booths are far more efficient, faster, and quieter than our previous ones. With the rising costs of gas and electricity this upgrade is helping us to reduce our operating costs and become more sustainable. We are 100% confident that this upgrade will help us to better serve our customers and reduce our environmental impact.”
And continue to reduce our carbon footprint.
