CarComm Coachworks partners with Berkshire-based charity to provide support for families in time of crisis

After much consideration, CarComm Coachworks has chosen to support a Berkshire-based charity, The Cowshed.

Since its launch in early 2019, The Cowshed has been providing support to people of all backgrounds who are going through a time of crisis. To date, the charity has helped over 10,000 people by supplying those in need with clothing, bedding, curtains, toiletries, children’s craft packs and Christmas sacks, and other essential items.

Covering the whole of Berkshire, referrals come from social services, churches, schools, charities, women’s refuges, doctors, and other health professionals. At present, The Cowshed is helping around 100 individuals each week. They also run numerous projects to support groups of vulnerable people with specific needs, such as ‘Prom at the Cowshed’ providing prom dresses and suits to those families who would otherwise struggle to meet the cost and the ‘Welcome to the World’ baby hampers for care leavers who are pregnant and without any family support. The Charity is supported by a strong team of volunteers in their community craft group.

The Cowshed has a threefold impact: recycling used clothing, helping those most in need, whilst creating a community craft group to support the main charity.

CarComm Coachworks are proud to support such a vital charity and the essential work they do for the community and have provided the charity with a branded delivery van, with insurance and breakdown cover. The van is used daily to deliver the support all across Berkshire.

Sally Russell, Founder and CEO of The Cowshed said “We are so extremely grateful to Carcomm for proving us with this amazing van, who we called “Daisy”. This has enabled our charity to deliver to people in crisis right through the pandemic. Without support like this, our charity would not survive – CarComm Coachworks are wonderful!”

CarComm Coachworks also painted the free children’s book library, located outside The Cowshed’s donation centre in Reading at Unit 2 Bennet Court, Bennet Road, RG2 0QX, built by the amazing team at Wokingham Men’s Shed. This library box is open to all children and they can take a book and exchange one should they choose.

“We are humbled to be able to help such a fantastic charity. It only felt right to be able to aid them in achieving their goals. We are excited to see the impact that The Cowshed will be able to make with their new van!” said Jason Mole, Director of CarComm Coachworks Ltd
