We are delighted to announce that CarComm Coachworks Ltd bodyshop in Ashford, Middlesex are now fully qualified to deal with and repair Electric Commercial vehicles (EVs).
As CO2 caps and taxation are expected to push more businesses to increase their electric van fleets, we are seeing growing demand for body repairs on these vehicles.
While repairing an electric van is often no more difficult than one powered by a combustion engine, technicians must be specially trained in order to avoid getting shocked by the high voltage electrical systems.
CarComm Coachworks technicians have completed the Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) training course in Hybrid Electric Vehicle Routine Maintenance & System Repair and Replacement – Levels 2 & 3.
They have also completed training on the Mercedes Benz e-Vito, which covers the safe working on High Voltage Electric and Hybrid Vehicles at Daimler Benz Training Centres, and are preparing to attend the new Mercedes Benz e-Sprinter training, which has only hit the UK roads in December 2020 (full article here).
With more and more companies looking to reduce their Carbon Footprint, these Zero Emission commercial vehicles help to solve this problem very easily.
We have also installed some electric charging points throughout the workshop to ensure that we can recharge any Electric vehicle to enable test driving and checking all the systems prior to return of any Electric Vehicle to our customers.
